10.-22.-38 Astoria is a collaborative print installation that transforms a gallery or other space into a floor-to-ceiling print exhibition and pop-up copy shop. (The name comes from the first xerographic print ever made – with permission by the Xerox corporation.) The concept was first presented at FICTILIS Seattle in November 2011, then replicated in San Francisco at The Lab in 2012 (pictured) and Counterpath in Denver, CO (upcoming, 2014). A suspended wire system is used to hang thousands of sheets of paper, and visitors can use on-site copy machines to interact with the collection in several ways and contribute to its evolution over the course of the exhibition. After each iteration, we collaborate with a local book artist to make a commemorative book and catalog.
